FCC 2023: Two Days of Professional Development for the RÉCIT Consultants

The annual gathering of RÉCIT (Réseau pour le développement des compétences par l’intégration des technologies) consultants, the Formation conjointe et collaborative, provided a stimulating platform for professional growth, collaboration, and networking within the field of integration of technology in education. The diverse range of workshops and the overarching theme of connectivity underscored the importance of coming together to advance shared goals and practices.

The RÉCIT consultant for vocational training, Marc Vézina & James Burn, participated in the 2023 edition held in Boucherville on September 26 and 27th under the theme “Connected to be together.” The primary objectives of the event were to facilitate the exchange of expertise, establish grounds for collaboration, hone skills, foster connections, and encourage social interaction among the 325 RÉCIT consultants. The consultants, specialising in the youth sector, adult general education, and vocational training, convened to collectively enhance their practices and strengthen their network.

One of the engaging workshops, titled Feedback Literacy, focused on the crucial skills of giving and receiving feedback. The session emphasised the importance of viewing feedback as a continuum, requiring development and support for both teachers and students. The animators cited Carless and Boud about the student’s capacity to appreciate feedback, make judgement, manage affect, and take actions

Another workshop, titled in French Les incontournables du RÉCIT, delved into an in-depth, reflective exercise regarding the role, responsibilities, and privileges of RÉCIT consultants. Participants engaged in meaningful discussions, and the consensus that was reached, documented, and will be submitted for consultation and approval.

The event concluded with a visually creative and expressive note, utilising a word cloud generated from the participants’ main takeaways. This word cloud encapsulated the collective insights and key learnings of the consultants, representing the essence of the collaborative gathering.
