EPC-VT November šŸ„§ meeting

Hello everyone!

Here is a summary of our November 19, 2024 meeting, where we reviewed ongoing projects, discussed new opportunities for collaboration and answered community questions.Ā  We spoke about inviting teachers to discuss how to create pedagogical resources for the new Automechanic program, approaches and issues in individualized instruction, and outreach strategies to enhance teacher engagement for professional development.Ā  We discussed connecting tasks from the needs analysis to program outcomes to clarify how job tasks align with learning goals. For individualized instruction, we examined flexible competency assessment strategies while adhering to program requirements. Plans to integrate cross-curricular techniques and de-escalation strategies were also highlighted, with discussions on leveraging professional development to strengthen teacher buy-in.Ā  The subcommittees (EPC-VT mission and branding, EPC-VT book club) presented their work, with the branding committee presenting first steps in branding, and the book club selecting their book (The PD Book by Elena Aguilar & Lori Cohen) and organizing chapter read-a-longs supported by meetings once a month to discuss takeaways.Ā  Before Decemberā€™s meeting, the group will:

  • organize meetings to discuss Automechanics resources and continue working on group mission & branding
  • Address requests for classroom management approaches, information about the online BVE offered by the U de S, and shared resources from JPNFP to a folder on the drive.

Our next meeting, Tuesday, December 17 from 13:00-15:00, we will try to offer hybrid, with a host location around Montreal for those who want to meet in person.Ā  More details to follow.

Thank you for your interest in the EPC-VT!
