EPC-VT April 🌱 meeting summary

Hello everyone!

We kicked off our meeting with a lively discussion on AI in education, acknowledging that it’s still in its early stages. We explored how to shift our focus from the direct use of AI to how it can benefit students, sharing resources and ideas to support this perspective. During our round table, we heard updates on vocational teacher support, focusing on augmenting lessons with AI, using tools like Microsoft Forms and Teams, and encouraging self-reflection among teachers.  Key topics included the program updates, BIM exams, group planning for next year, and upcoming conferences. We emphasized the need to better understand the development processes for BIM exams and discussed the importance of having exams as a starting point for teachers. We also touched on succession planning for our group, weighing options for next year and brainstorming ways to evaluate our current efforts while identifying future needs. We also discussed upcoming conferences, including the AI Design Institute at Concordia, the FCSSQ webinar series, and the Colloque de l’Observatoire de la FP.

We are starting our year-end report and thinking about plans for next year, we want to include the voice of the larger VT pedagogical community.  We invite you to weigh in on our activities and goals this year using this document.  There are two pages to jot down your thoughts – page 1 lists the activities we did and leaves a space for written comments, and page 2 is an appreciation table of the activities.  We would love for our community to offer a bit of feedback about our activities.  Depending on how much you want to write, it could take 3-15 minutes.

Our next meeting will be Tuesday, May 20, 2025 from 13:00-15:00 where we will welcome guests to talk about connecting stakeholders working with individualized teaching, and another to talk about the ups and downs of developing teaching tools.

See you then!

Robin
