EPC-VT January ☃️ Meeting Summary

Hello everyone!

For our January 20 meeting, we started with Housekeeping/Follow-up, with an update for the Book Club book purchases approved by the individual school boards, then moved to the round table.  Here we listened to updates on the Unlocking Impact project and details about the ACE 2026 Conference on March 19, inviting conversation hub facilitators and participants to sign up.  We discussed the lack of translation for the STC-4772 Shipbuilding exams and explored using Mistral.ai as a solution. Concerns regarding the correction key for a Carpentry exam were addressed, with a suggestion to use the BIM feedback form, and we looked into obtaining retired exam copies. We also shared resources for various funding opportunities.  In Group work & special topics, we continued discussing our annual goals, noting that systemic barriers, such as a lack of time and feeling overwhelmed, impede collaborative efforts. The Book Club discussed chapter 2 themes around avoiding equity traps and tropes, noting parallels between these topics and cultural indicators of VT as being perceived as inferior to academic education.  Our next meeting will be online on Tuesday, February 17 at 13:00.

Thank you for your interest in EPC-VT Circle!
