EPC-VT December 🏔 meeting
Hello everyone!
December’s meeting opened with welcoming stories and some housekeeping items. Discussion in our meeting focused on integrating AI in education and provided key updates on vocational programs and initiatives, RECIT VT activities, teacher support, and updates on program developments and the University of Sherbrooke’s Bachelor’s in Vocational Education (BVE) online stream.
The integration of AI into education was a major point of discussion. We explored how AI can enhance feedback loops, emphasizing the importance of timely feedback. Participants noted that some consultants in an AI working group highlighted discrepancies between youth and adult education sector needs. Tools like the SA Grader were considered for formative assessment, though limitations in handling critique-based writing and evaluation policy were acknowledged. We discussed the vital role of consultants in orienting VT teachers to develop questions for evaluations.
RÉCIT VT shared a save the date for the Table nationale de concertation et de collaboration (TNCC) on February 6th from 9 a.m. to noon and the call for facilitators for ACE 2025: Game On!  Updates were shared on sector-specific programs. No school board currently offers the Concrete Finishing program. For the Pharmacy Technical Assistance program, discussions centered on equipment needs and evaluation logistics. Possible solutions include community donations and partnerships with industry sponsors. Recently, it was announced that IHCA 5858 would be closed in favour of the STC 4770, but some questions about logistics and timelines remain. Â
Our Book club and Pedagogical tools working groups shared summaries of their latest activities, and the Branding & Mission group brought some logos and fonts to the table for consultation. We will mull it over and decide next meeting which one we prefer. Finally, the University of Sherbrooke’s Bachelor’s in Vocational Education (BVE) program shared updates on their online English stream launch in January 2025. The program will offer greater access across the province, with modular course delivery and the potential for prior learning recognition.
Thank you for your interest in EPC-VT!
